One of the most iconic voices of the 70s will bring her soulful hits to south west London later this year.
Kathy Sledge, one of the original Sledge Sisters will perform at Richmond Theatre, as part of the Thinking of You Tour.
On November, Sunday 5 she will take the stage with Sister Sledge to perform hits such as Thinking of You, Lost in Music, We Are Family, He’s The Greatest Dancer.
Since early in her career, Kathy had been compared to Michael Jackson as both singers grew up on stage as the youngest siblings and lead vocalists in a family group.
Kathy was the youngest of five daughters who were taught harmonies by their opera singer grandmother, while her father was one half of Fred & Sledge born to Edwin and Florez Sledge, the tapping duo who broke racial barriers on Broadway.
Kathy and her sisters honed their act around Philadelphia and signed to Atco Records, however sit was their collaboration with the iconic producers Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards that catapulted Sister Sledge into stardom, with their number 1 album ‘We Are Family’.
Speaking about Kathy’s talent, Niles Rodgers said: “Kathy has one of the most original and unique voices in pop music. Always has and always will!”
Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of Grandslam Live Ltd said: “We are delighted to be bringing Sister Sledge Live featuring Kathy Sledge to theatres across the nation this November. Kathy is without doubt the authentic original sound of Sister Sledge.
“She is nothing short of spectacular live and an evening with her will certainly be one to remember! We know fans will enjoy what promises to be one of the most memorable live shows.”
Sister Sledge Live featuring Kathy Sledge is on at Richmond Theatre on Sunday, November 5.
