BST Hyde Park will host a special evening of orchestral music as part of this year’s summer music festival which aims to make classical music more accessible.

New for the London summer music festival, All Things Orchestral will see the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra take the stage for an evening celebrating classical music presented by Hear’Say’s Myleene Klass and featuring tenor Alfie Boe as special guest.

Held on the Great Oak Stage on Friday, June 23, the night will take audience members on a journey through classical music, both traditional and modern.

Tenor Alfie Boe OBE will be the star guest performer of the evening, and the evening is an opportunity to catch Boe – one of the most successful classical singers of his generation, with three UK no. 1 albums under his belt along with appearances in Les Misérables, la Boheme and Quadrophenia – in action.

The concert, which is designed to go on tour, comes at time when music education is declining in schools, orchestra and arts organisations have been hit with funding cuts, and classical performances are also in decline and poorly attended.

Tickets to All Things Orchestral start from £11.45, keeping in line with the night’s spirit of accessibility.

Myleene Klass said: “I’m beyond excited to be a part of making history as I host the first ever Classical BST at Hyde park. With a programme of classical and movie music that all ages know and love, helping to bring a concert like this into the heart of London is an honour.”

All Things Orchestral joins an already stellar line up of gigs scheduled across June and July.
