The days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve are weirdly, but enjoyably quiet in London, as the capital shuts down before revving back up for the New Year. If you’re at a loose end and wondering what to do, here’s The Resident’s suggestions.

1 Jurassic World: The Exhibition, Royal Docks

For dinosaur lovers and fans of the blockbuster film series, this is your chance to rub shoulders with your most loved and feared prehistoric reptile. Visitors can roam through the exhibition - which takes up a whooping 20,000 square-feet - and encounter prehistoric animals, including a life-sized Velociraptor, Brachiosaurus and T-Rex, which are also wandering around.

Date: Booking through to mid-January, 2023

Tickets: from £15

Address: Excel London, Royal Victoria Dock, E16 1XL

2 Dine out

Obviously cooking is low on the priorities this week, but lucky for us, not everything shuts down over twixmas. Woolwich Works will plate up its brunch through this week to New Year's day, but there is also the delectable Tel Aviv-inspired Bubala in Spitalfields (Dec 28-30), the sublime Fallow in St James's (from Dec 28) Kudu (from Dec 29) in Peckham, Indian restaurant Kricket (Dec 28 - 31) in Soho and Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill in the West End for a real treat.

An 850-strong team of techies who used motion capturing and performance techniques with the band members - a process which took months.
