1 Make mood boards
For a good few weeks, really take the time to put together a folder of things you love – these will reflect you and your personality. Now start collecting – create a Pinterest board, make notes of things you notice in everyday life, take pictures with your smartphone or cut out items from magazines that inspire you, perhaps a designer bag that made you smile, a picture of a holiday spot you’d like to visit, a piece of furniture you yearn to own, or beautiful homes that you could imagine yourself living in.
2 Know your rooms
With notepad in hand, go through the rooms of your home and list each large-ish item they contain, e.g., sofa, chair, table, side table, etc., and as objectively as possible, either mark them ‘Love’ or ‘Remove/Replace.’ Be brutally honest about each item.
