Any big or major capital city comes with its perks, and in my opinion stunning views of big buildings and the hustle and bustle which looks so minor from above are one of the best things.

London is no exception, and there are a plethora of bars and restaurants where you can see the shining lights of the city.

At Radio Rooftop at the ME London hotel, you can get it all – good vibes, a DJ, great food, drinks and epic views.

I can’t speak for the winter but when I went last Friday evening in the sunshine, there were few places I’d rather have been.

My friend and I spent hours sat drinking in the sun, looking over our city, putting the world to rights, and enjoying nice food.

We had beautiful views of the sunset over BT Tower and St Paul’s Cathedral from our seat, and round the other side was the London Eye gleaming, and further round Canary Wharf and then The Shard in all its glory.

Inside was a DJ creating atmosphere, a feature bar right in the centre, and buzzy tables of people enjoying the start of their weekend.

The food menu is based on an Asian cuisine so we decided to have some bits to share to go with our gins.

We had padron peppers, two maki rolls – one tuna and one salmon, a sashimi platter, black miso cod and aubergine with ginger miso.

One maki roll was spicy tuna – which came with seared tuna over the top – and the salmon was with avocado and mayo.

They were bursting with flavour, fresh, and almost as melt-in-the-mouth as the sashimi pieces.

It was a generous portion which was presented beautifully and colourfully and it came with five different fishes – two tuna, a seabass, a salmon and yellowtail.

Miso is one of my favourite flavours and the cod and the aubergine both with similar flavourings went really well together – and it was nice to have a couple of hot dishes at the table.

Although similar in flavour they were different in texture and paired well.

It was filling, and it was a perfectly light dinner to eat while watching the sunset over London.

As it got darker, a roof covered the terrace, music got louder, and the night got a bit more life to it.

It actually felt like we were abroad, and it was the perfect setting for spending a whole evening on a date night, catching up with friends, or as a beautiful way to appreciate the best bits of the city we live in.
