CLAP London is a fine-dining Japanese restaurant just a stone’s throw away from Harrods, and it has the views, vibes and glamour to take the London nightlife scene by storm.

With views across the Knightsbridge skyline, the dining experience at CLAP is immersive, with sushi and robata counters with an additional rooftop bar and lounge.

The sixth floor is the main restaurant with a sexy and buzzy atmosphere, and the seventh floor boasts a vibrant cocktail bar and terrace perfect for summer drinks, date nights or a good view.

CLAP has recently announced its brand new selection of cocktails – with a 26-strong menu now enhanced with six new cocktails infusing Japanese aromas and fresh seasonal menus.

You can eat from the a la carte menu, or the bar bites menu at the seventh floor bar – which features Wagyu beef tartare, rock shrimp tempura and a selection of sushi platters.

Music is at the heart of CLAP, with electronic beats infused with international elements of genres such as Afro House and Latin House by the resident DJs.

CLAP has also recently launched its new brunch offering – with a feast for all senses at £75 – including Japanese delicacies, a bottle selection and entertainment.

I went to eat at CLAP on a sunny Wednesday evening after work and its location right by the Tube station and Hyde Park makes for easy access.

I walked in and immediately felt like I was in an upmarket destination where I was about to be taken into a world of great food and great vibes.

We sat on the sixth floor to eat, passing the sizzling robata counter and colourful sushi counter on our way to our table right by the panoramic window which overlooks London.

The restaurant was pleasantly busy for a Wednesday night and I had an ‘over the clouds’ cocktail with a lychee base while we browsed the menu which has a wide range of offerings – from sashimi and nigiri to salads, main courses and robata.

We went for a chef’s selection, and enjoyed a mixed seaweed salad and edamame beans to start.

Other dishes that followed were a spicy yellowtail sashimi, avocado cream on crispy rice (a personal favourite) and chicken wings.

Once we had finished that we had a fish platter – with nigiri, spicy tuna maki, sashimi and a spicy salmon roll.

Not only was it pleasing to the stomach, but also to the eye, and it made a fantastic spectacular.

For mains we had miso black cod which was melt-in-the-mouth incredible, paired with a rice and veg robata dish.

We were absolutely stuffed but couldn’t get enough of the fresh food and complementary, decadent flavours which each dish had.

Cocktails, wine, and good fish is my dream – and then when a matcha cheesecake and a chocolate fondant get brought out – it’s hard to really beat it.

I’d recommend CLAP for anyone wanting a meal with great atmosphere, music, impeccable food, tasty cocktails and an empty stomach to begin with!

I’ll definitely be back – and hopefully one day at the Ibiza branch too which is due to open at the end of the summer.
