One the most iconic musicians of our time has written the music to the stage adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada which will arrive in London’s West End next year.

Sir Elton John, who pulled the biggest Glastonbury crowd ever for his final performance, has penned the tunes for stage adaptation of the blockbuster film features Anne Hathaway and Merryl Streep, which was an adaptation of a bestselling book.

The musical, which opens in the Dominion Theatre in October 2024, tells the story of aspiring journalist Andy who scores a job at the prestigious Runway magazine working for fashion’s most powerful and terrifying icon – Editor in Chief Miranda Priestly, just to jog your memory.

Andy finds herself seduced by the glamorous world she once despised, eventually having to decided if what she always wanted is worth selling her soul for.

It is based on the best-selling book by Kate Wetherhead which was turned into a blockbuster hit by 20th century studios.

This is not the pop legend’s first foray into musicals, the Crocodile Rock singer already worked on Tammy Faye, Billy Elliot: The Musical and The Lion King.

Created by an A-list team, the show’s set design is by Life of Pi and Back to the Future designer Tim Hatley, and features new direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell who previously has worked in Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Pretty Woman and Hair Spray.

The show completed a development run in Chicago in 2022, and will open in Theatre Royal Plymouth for a short run in July 2024 before opening in London.

The show will hold a gala performance on Sunday, December 1, 2024 in support of World Aids Day and the Elton John Aids Foundation.
