The former London home of globally renowned singer/songwriter Rihanna has gone on sale. The eight bedroom house on St John’s Wood Park – a gated double-fronted detached property with 6,332 sq ft of immaculate interiors – has a plenty of luxurious touches, including a carriage driveway, passenger lift, gymnasium, two entire floors of entertaining space and a large landscaped rear garden.
Media interviews and the star’s own Instagram stories had led to wide reporting about Rihanna’s mansion in St John’s Wood, and it is believed the Barbados-born beauty has used the property as her London base for the last 2.5 years. Reports and photos have shown her enjoying ice cream in the kitchen, chilling in the garden and even shopping at Sainsbury’s.

The white stucco detached villa was originally built circa 1844 by wealthy builder William Holme Twentyman (1802-1884) and designed by renowned architect John Shaw Junior (1803-1870), a favourite of HRH Prince Albert.

After building neighbouring Avenue Road, Twentyman and Shaw turned their attentions to St John’s Wood Park devising large houses on V-shaped plots that afforded each residence a substantial garden by London standards, hence the choice of ‘park’ over ‘road’ in the street name.
The house is the only one of Twentyman/Shaw’s original V-plot villas on St John’s Wood Park that has survived, with all the others either demolished, adapted or the plots compromised.
