London Fashion Week AW15 is just around the corner and as we gawp at the amazing outfits and beautiful catwalk stars, the fashion experts at Lux Fix talk us through what looks we saw at LFW SS15 and how we can wear them off the catwalk

1 Floral Prints

Mulberry showed cornflower, delphinium and cow parsley, while House of Holland went totally psychedelic with its floral prints and Eudon Choi showcased floral print three-piece trouser suits. Make floral work harder in a knock-out silhouette and opt for wrap dress which will look fabulous whether you are a siz 8 or 18. If you’re feeling bolder, give the classic suit a spring twist by going for matching jacket and trousers.

2 The Shirt Dress

Backed by young luminaries like Marios Schwab, Christoper Raeburn and Holly Fulton, the shirt dress took many turns on the catwalk. Take a leaf out of eternally stylish Yasmin Le Bon’s look with a Winser London versatile long silk shirt (with just the right amount of stretch) that can be thrown on over leggings, skinny jeans and look wonderful.

3 Stripes

Retro stripes got a lot of attention on the catwalk last year, with head to toe looks (yes, matching footwear) an eye-catching feature. Use abstract vertical stripes to elongate your figure whether you’re wearing a t-shirt, trousers or dress. Don’t restrict yourself to just one colour, the rainbow-stripe look is going to be huge this spring/summer, as demonstrated by Sienna Miller in her knitted Céline dress.

4 Metallics

Tom Ford’s disco metallic fabrics glinted in the light of a thousand flashes and Topshop Unique sprinkled sequins on its fabulously feminine SS15 collection. For everyday wear or if you just want a splash of disco, opt for a metallic clutch, which is an instant wardrobe tonic and we particularly like this embellished number by Skinny Dip London.

5 The Seventies

The Resident: Marques’Almeida SS15 (Daniel Sims, British Fashion Council) shows seventies denim done rightMarques’Almeida SS15 (Daniel Sims, British Fashion Council) shows seventies denim done right

This look dominated at both New York and London SS15 Fashion Weeks, with floppy hats, fringing and denim references a plenty. While you might be bored of the seventies trend coming round again, this year designers have been doing it a bit differently and we challenge anyone not to be tempted by some of the fringed denim pieces, like those seen at Marques’Almeida. If you’re not quite ready to dust of the flares (a big trend for SS15), then while the weather is still cold get your seventies look via chunky knits. Then as the weather warms up, channel your inner Marianne Faithful with billowing dresses.
