A new eco-friendly vintage fashion boutique has opened in Peckham. Along with vintage pieces, the shop, taken over by Jemima Beulah of JHBeulah Eco Couture, will have a haberdashery and host special film screenings

Jemima Beulah of JHBeulah Eco Couture has taken up residence at Threads on 186 Bellenden Road, Peckham, which also happens to be the only haberdashery in SE15.

Threads specialises in handpicked vintage clothes, from delicate silk slips and Victorian capes to 50s party dresses and original designs by Jemima. Adding to the vintage vibe of the shop is a sweetshop-style haberdashery in the backroom, where customers can bring their clothes to be upcycled or mended from £8 and weigh out buttons and supplies for sewing projects.

Fashion graduate and Savile Row trained Beulah has lived in South East London for five years. Her approach to design is very much reminiscent of the “make-do and mend” movement from the 1940s War-time era; whether it be restoring a worn out evening dress or recreating an original 1950s jacket from vintage curtains. As a result everything in Threads is a one-off and ec0-friendly.

The opening follows a successful Christmas pop-up shop in Nunhead, and this is JHBeulah’s first permanent shop. Along with the vintage clothes and haberdashery, Jemima will be holding events on the last Saturday of every month, including film screenings showing period dramas and cult classics with Jemima encouraging guests to dress up in the relevant era.
