I had my first ever steak-gasm at Steak and Company in Leicester Square - and it was a bloody good one.

On Tuesday evening, myself and my colleague Amy tucked in to a supreme dining experience at steak house, Steak and Company.

Steak and Company is a collection of modern steakhouse eateries located in iconic spots across central London, and our hot spot for the evening was the quaint area of Irving Street, a few seconds from the hectic yet brilliant Leicester Square.

As we arrived at our booking for 7.30pm, we took in the surroundings of the restaurant, and noticed the eloquent Christmas decorations scattered across the building, with two large, well-adorned Christmas trees positioned at the entrance.

Inside, Steak and Company has many eye-catching features, including a wooden beamed ceiling with excessively large baubles that hung above customers, a grand bar featuring too many bottles of wine to count, and stunning, romantic seating areas.

The Resident:

Our seats for the evening were next to a large window that overlooked London’s famous square – an ideal spot for those wanting to people watch as they tuck in to their dinners.

Both Amy and I were recommended to enjoy the Hot Stone ‘Do-It-Yourself’ steak – this gives customers the opportunity to cook their steaks just the way they like it.

The Hot Stone steak - a black angus south American fillet steak - is priced at £42 per person and includes a secret seasoning salt and a sauce and butter of your choice.

Our lovely waitress for the evening Devoli brought over our steaks alongside two stunningly unique cocktails – the aesthetic of the drinks almost looked as beautiful as the steaks we were about to demolish.

I confess – I usually have my steaks cooked medium, however after experiencing flash-heating my own, I can now confirm medium-rare is the new way to my heart.

Turns out I have been making a mis-steak all this time!

Alongside my steak I chose to have a garlic and parsley butter and green peppercorn sauce – a perfect accomplice to work with the tenderness of the steak – and we shared chunky chips, charred broccoli, and mac & cheese on the side.

Piero, a gentlemen who worked at the restaurant, was welcoming, and made us feel comfortable throughout the evening and helped us along the way to flash heating the perfect steaks.

Our stomachs were full, and our serotonin levels were high, and we ended our experience with two glasses of white wine – we were in heaven, a steak heaven.

While we were taking a moment to enjoy our satiated state Amy reflected that what she had just devoured might have been the best steak she had ever tasted, and I could not agree more.
