*** Restaurant opening has been postoned*** A Sri Lankan streetfood outlet with market sites in Vauxhall, Elephant & Castle and Spitalfields will open with a soft launch offer in Canary Wharf later this month.

Created by sisters Vasanthini and Dharshini Perumal, Karapincha serves up warming Sri Lankan comfort foods, and from August 23, from its first restaurant site in Canary Wharf.

With outlets in Mercato Metropolitano, Old Spitalfields Market and Market Place in Vauxhall, the Canary Wharf location will be the business’ fourth site.

The 10-seater restaurant will open with a soft launch offer, taking 50 per cent off mains during its first week, Tuesday, August 22 to Tuesday, August 29.

Available to dine in or takeaway, the menu will feature much of the outfit’s signature dishes; devilled chicken with fried rice, kothu roti – diced up roti bread stir-fried with vegetables and either chicken, lamb or a vegan mix.

Sweet and savoury hoppers and lamb crispy rolls are also available.

The Canary Wharf venue will also serve a Sri Lankan-style breakfast that will include ham and cheese stuffed rotis and French toast, as well as lighter breakfast options.

Karapincha joins a host of restaurants and food traders in Canary Wharf.

Most recently, Fish Game, an ultra-seasonal and sustainable fish restaurant Roberto Costa’s restaurant group Macellaio RC opened in Canary Wharf.

With Fish Game, the restauranteur has taken a step away from his Italian offerings w to serve up dishes that are simple and balanced in a rustic yet stylish dining room. The restaurant also has a tequila bar attached, where Aperitivo is served daily.

The second location of plant-based restaurant mallow also recently opened in Canary Wharf. 

The sister restaurant to Mildreds, mallow plates up healthy vegan food, inspired by popular dishes from around the globe.
