BBQs and beer is a heavenly union and a new kitchen takeover in a south west London pub comes just in time for warm weather feasting.

From the Ashes BBQ have taken up a kitchen residency at Wandsworth watering hole, The Ram.

For the next six-months (at least) the London BBQ outfit, which started out on the capital's street food and festival circuits, will be smoking, charring and grilling cuts of meat - as well as veg - out of the Wandsworth High Street pub.

Confirmed to run until September at the earliest, it's the second residency for From the Ashes, which previously set up shop for a bit at KERB Counter in Shoreditch last year.

Using the whole animal when possible, From the Ashes will be preparing the likes of Guinness and treacle-glazed smoked short-rib; pork fat popcorn; and doughnut packed with smoked braised short rib, chipotle, tabasco BBQ sauce, smoked cheese, crispy onions and garlic.

Vegetarians can try the adobo cauliflower celeriac and salsa macha; beetroot with goat's cheese and hazelnuts and everyone can enjoy the beer battered house pickles.

For dessert, the sticky date pudding comes with beef fat caramel and fior di latte ice cream or you can try the dulce de leche doughnut ice cream sandwich with hot chocolate if you want to be rolled home.

From the Ashes BBQ will also put on a Sunday roast, which comes smoked, or as marmite glazed celeriac for the non-meat eaters.

While The Ram has its own in-house brewery, the pub has a list of BBQ-inspired cocktails - a martini made from house pickle liquor and gin or a burnt honey old fashioned anyone?

From the Ashes BBQ will be in the kitchen Thursday to Sunday.
