A Michelin starred restaurant in Fitzrovia that shut down after a kitchen fire broke out has announced its reopening date.

The Ninth, the first restaurant by Chef Patron Jun Tanaka was forced to close following an accidental fire which erupted on July 20, 2022 causing damage to the fourth floor and roof of the building.

After initially thinking the fire would close The Ninth down for a couple of weeks, the French Mediterranean restaurant has now been closed for more than seven months.

The Ninth reopens with the entire kitchen and front of house team intact, and have welcomed new team members as well in the interim.

Tanaka has also taken the closure as an opportunity to refresh the interiors, adding leather banquettes to the bathrooms and updating the tableware with a more contemporary style.

Despite the zhuzh up, The Ninth remains as it always was, a friendly neighbourhood restaurant, serving many of its famed dishes.
