A new vegan restaurant has opened on Mare Street, and it looks good - both the dishes and interiors.
With low interventions wines, veg-forward, hyper-seasonal dishes made with a 'root to fruit' ethos, plant-based eat, neighbourhood restaurant EDIT looks set to charm Hackney residents.
The Mare Street restaurant, which opened Wednesday, February 1, is the brainchild of former architect Elly Ward, who conceived of the venue with sustainability in mind.

Foodwise, the kitchen follows a 'root to fruit' ethos and a circular, low waste philosophy.
Chefs Fabrice Jacquet and Beth Olivier plate up modern British plant-based dishes, with ingredients sourced from small-scale local farms, independent producers and foragers.
The menu changes frequently, in line with what produce is on offer, but expect the likes of Pied de Mouton prepared with barley and oats; salt crust turnip with smoked garlic; and seaweed-cured celeriac with oyster leaf and radish delivered to your table.
There are also plant-based cheese boards as well, made with artisan vegan cheeses and homemade chutneys and breads.
Diners can order off the main menu or go for the farm-to-table six-course tasting menu which comes paired with natural wines and ciders.
The interiors have also been created to reflect the restaurant's sustainable approach.
The intimate 30-seat dining room comes with exposed brick walls and original cast iron columns that date back to the building's factory days.

It's styled out with reclaimed furniture and tabletops made from recycled wood waste.
There's a bar at the back, mixing cocktails and drinks, which gives way to a plant-filled internal courtyard and a 12-seat private dining space.
