The West End is awash with places to grab a coffee at, so we've picked out our recommendations on the best cafes and coffee shops around Oxford Street in Soho, Covent Garden & Fitzrovia...
Lead Image: Grind
1 Flat White, Berwick Street
The first pick of Soho coffee shops and for good reason. The long-standing Australian-style coffee spot has a touch of the Melbourne hipster to it, so unsurprisingly knows how to froth the milk to the right, creamy consistency. It's a compact cafe with a compact menu of quick, easy breakfasts and cheese toasties.
Address: 17 Berwick Street W1F 0PT

2 Grind, Beak Street
Start with a coffee and finish on a cocktail at Grind's Soho coffee shop and cocktail bar outpost - a winning combination in The Resident's books. It also does smoothies and has cold-pressed juices for the virtuous, and a selection of things to nibble on, cakes and pastries.
Address: 19 Beak Street London, W1F 9RP

3 Kaffeine, Eastcastle Street & Great Titchfield Street
Another antipodean-style cafe, Kaffeine has two location in the West End to escape to - one on Eastcastle Street and the other on Great Titchfield Street. Seven Seeds bakery supplies the pastries, but go a vegemite and cheese scroll, always.
Address: 15 Eastcastle Street, Fitzrovia W1T 3AY

4 Department of Coffee and Social Affairs, Lowndes Court
Once you manage to find Department of Coffee and Social Affairs, you’ll be glad you did. Hidden down a small alley way off Carnaby Street, it’s a great quiet spot to refuel. More of a traditional coffee house, they have plenty of coffee and tea options, including some good cold brews and a small selection of pastries, as well as enough waffle, pancake, toastie and bagel options, you'll second guess your final choice.
Address: 3 Lowndes Court, Carnaby W1F 7HD

5 Notes, St Martin's Lane
Near Trafalgar Square, Notes is well worth the hunt. Stroll up to rest your feet over a flat white or come for the all-day brunch, a beer or a light, picky-bits dinner.
Address: 31 St Martin’s Lane WC2N 4ER
