LONDON BOROUGH OF BROMLEY MEMBERS' ALLOWANCES SCHEME 2019/20
Under the Local Authorities (Members Allowances)(England) Regulations 2003 the Council is required to make a scheme which shall provide for the payment of an allowance in respect of each year to each Member of the Authority.
The Council has made a scheme known as the London Borough of Bromley Members' Allowances Scheme. The scheme shall operate from 1st April 2019 until 31st March 2020. The main features of the scheme are as follows:
Basic Allowance
All Members receive a basic allowance of £11,115.


Special Responsibility Allowances
Leader of the Council £31,288

Portfolio Holders (x6) £20,859

Executive Members without Portfolio £3,655

Executive Assistants (x6) £3,655

Chairman of Health and Wellbeing Board £8,865

Chairman of Main PDS Committee £8,865

Chairman of Portfolio PDS Committees (x5)   £7,300


Chairman of Development Control Committee £8,865

Vice-Chairman of Development Control Committee £2,014

Chairman of Plans Sub-Committees (x4) £2,832

Chairman of General Purposes and Licensing £8,865

Members of Fostering and Adoption Panel (per £205 meeting)


The scheme also allows Councillors to claim reimbursement of travel and subsistence expenses, for travel outside the Borough on approved duties only, under the same rules and entitlements applied to officers.
Under these Regulations, the Council in agreeing this Scheme has considered the recommendations of the Independent Panel commissioned by the Association of London Government on the remuneration of Councillors in London entitled "The Remuneration of Councillors in London 2018 - Report of the Independent Panel" published January 2018.
Copies of the scheme and a record of payments kept in accordance with Regulation 15(1) and (2) are available for inspection between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday at Bromley Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley, BR1 3UH.
