NOTICE OF INTENTIN TO REMOVE HUMAN REMAINS FROM FORMER CRAGG BAPTIST CHURCH BURIAL GROUND. Micklefield Lane, Rawdon, Leeds LS19 (now part of a landscaped garden 4 Chevington Court, Rawdon
a) For purpose of building an dining room to extend off the kitchen. It is necessary to remove certain remains from the above premises.
b) In accordance with the previsions of the Disused Burial Grounds (Amendment) Act 1981 notice is hereby given that Mr Mcdonald intend 2 months after the date of first publication of this notice to remove the remains of various persons interred at the site.
c) A plan of the present place of burial showing the positions of the graves and a list of names buried are now deposited at Rawdon Library. LS19 6DF and can be inspected free of charge.
d) Subject to section (e) Mr McDonald propose to arrange for all remains to be removed and reinterred or cremated in accordance with the following conditions proposed by the Secretary of State
? The removal of the remains to be effected with due care and attention to decency;
? The ground in which the remains are interred to be screened from public gaze while work of removal is in progress;
? A suitable disinfectant solution to be freely sprinkled over the coffins and soil, if necessary
? The removal to be to the satisfaction of the environmental health officer for the district in which the remains are at present interred and in accordance with any additional conditions he or she may impose;
? The remains and any articles apparently buried with deceased to be placed in fresh shells or such other containers as meet the requirements of the said officer;
? The remains to be removed prior to the commencement of any building work and reinterred at Yeadon cemetery, within two years from the date of this notice, and in any intervening [period to be kept safely, privately and decently
e) Any person representative or relative of any deceased person whose remains are to be removed, has the right to give notice in writing to the undersigned before 2nd May 2019 of intention within two months of the date of this notice, to make their own arrangements for removal of such remains and their reinternment in any churchyard, burial ground or cemetery in which interments may legally take place or, if desired, to make arrangements
for their cremation, and to claim or dispose of any removal, reinternment, cremation or disposal will be defrayed by Mr McDonald of 4 Chevington Court. Application for the Secretary of State's directions should be made to Ministry of Justice, Coroners, Burials, Cremations and inquiries Team. 102 Petty France, London, SW1 9AJ. Application for Secretary of State's directions are not required to effect the removal of any tombstone, monument or other memorial). Mr McDonald will defray the reasonable expense of such removal and, where appropriate, reinternment or cremation.
f) If notice in section (e) above has not been given within the prescribed time, or, if after such notice has been given, the person giving notice have not removed the remains, Mr McDonald will cause all the human remains to be removed and reinterred at Yeadon Cemetery LS19 7XE
g) Any person entitled to burial rights at the date of this notice may claim compensation in respect of the loss of such rights by writing to the undersigned.
