Temporary Traffic Management Order, (Contra Flow) A338, Hurn
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL in partnership with BOURNEMOUTH BOROUGH COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. The order will come into operation at 00.01hrs on Sunday 03 March 2019 and will remain in force for 18 months. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 30 June 2019.
The order is to create a safer working area for Dorset County Council and Bournemouth Borough Council (in partnership) whilst they carry out major maintenance and improvement works which include bridge pier protection works. The effect of the order is as follows;
[1] To prohibit all vehicles from travelling southbound along the A338 Southbound Lane 2 carriageway, commencing at an approximate location, 1050 metres North of Blackwater overbridge (on the Southbound carriageway) to approximate location 1700 metres South of Blackwater overbridge (on the Southbound carriageway), a total distance of approximately 2750 metres.
[2] To impose a contra flow system on the A338, Southbound Lane 2. Northbound traffic will be directed to travel on the Southbound Lane 2 carriageway, from approximate location 400 metres, South of Blackwater Overbridge, to an approximate location 850 metres North of Blackwater Overbridge, a total distance of approximately 1250 metres. [3] To maintain maximum running width of contra flow lane of 2 metres. All vehicles widerthan 2m shall continue in Northbound lane 1.
[4] To impose a 10 mph speed limit within works areas to allow for convoy working
on contra flow area, as and when indicated by the traffic signs on site.

Proposed Development at Redmans Quarry, Horton Road, Three Legged Cross, Wimborne Minster, Dorset, BH2I 6SD. Redmans Sand Ltd is applying for planning permission for:
1. Temporary haul road and signage for vehicular access to Redmans Quarry;

2. Extraction of sand. Backfilling void with inert waste. Restoration of area to low grade agricultural land. All without compliance with conditions 17 and 18 of planning permission 3/17/0967/DCC requiring provision of a temporary permissive path and associated signage.
