Proposed Expansion of Thursby Primary School

Notice is hereby given in accordance with section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Cumbria County Council is proposing to expand Thursby Primary School, School Road, Thursby, Carlisle CA5 6PN by the addition of a single classroom, raising capacity to 140 from its current level of 105. Thursby primary School currently has a published admission number (the number of children it can admit in each year group) of 15, meaning it has capacity for 105 children in total. The number of children at the school in September 2018 was 103. The addition of a new classroom would allow the published admission number to increase to 20 and the capacity to 140. All objections made (and not withdrawn in writing within the representation period) will be sent in full to Cumbria County Council's Cabinet The final decision on whether or not to enlarge Thursby Primary School will be made using guidance provided by the Department for Education, by the Cabinet of Cumbria County Council, within two months of the end of the representation period.
