ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE MERLEY LANE
(EAST OF ITS JUNCTION WITH OAKLEY STRAIGHT) THE POOLE (MERLEY LANE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that The Borough and Count/ of the Town of Poole, the Highway Authority, is satisfied that traffic on the said Road should be prohibited and intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order in exercise of its powers under The Highways Act 1980, The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and The Local Authorities Traffic Order (Procedure) (England and Wales) Regulations 1996, the effect of which is that no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed along that part of Merley Lane affected by the works, i.e., east of its junction with Oakley Straight for approximately 200 metres. Frontagers and Emergency Services will be given precise details of the closure dates in due course by the Contractor.
Access will be available for residents only. Emergency vehicles will be accommodated on a one-off basis. A diversion will be signed.
The closure is required for a surface water and foul sewer connection.
The proposed Order is effective between Monday 24 September 2018 and Monday 15 October 2018. The Order is operative for the period mentioned above but will continue in force for the statutory period of eighteen months if required.
If the works are not completed within the statutory period the Order may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport. Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Order will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.
