To hold a public local inquiry to hear representations from persons
interested in the land comprised in the below application/appeal and, at
his discretion, to hear representations from any other persons who may
desire to appear and be heard. The joint inquiry is anticipated to sit for
eight days and the appointed Inspector will then prepare a joint report for
the consideration of the Welsh Ministers.
Common Land Application
The proposed works are on Llanhilleth Common (CL17) to enable the
proposed recovery of secondary aggregates and land reclamation. The
proposed works are located at Tir Pentwys Hafodrynys. Details of the
proposed works are as follows:
• Widening of Cefn Crib road, forming of a passing place, reforming of
bends to afford forward visibility and the provision of edge treatment at
discrete locations, for the purpose of catering for haulage traffic.
• Forming of a new section of private haul road to connect Cefn Crib
Road and Blaen y Cwm Road for the purpose of bypassing newly built
dwellings.
• Fencing off existing access through the site, between the North and
South of Common, and provision of an alternative access for the
purposes of mineral extraction, for health and safety reasons.

from 21 August 2018 until the close of the inquiry.
Planning Appeal
The planning appeal by Peakman Ltd is against the decision of Torfaen
County Borough Council’ s decision to refuse permission for the
reclamation of former opencast workings, recovery of secondary
aggregates and construction of new access road affecting public rights of
way (amended scheme) at Tirpentwys, Hafodyrynys, Pontypool,

Nhirpentwys, Hafodyrynys. Mae manylion y gwaith arfaethedig fel a
ganlyn:
• Lledu Cefn Crib Road, ffurfio man mynd heibio, ailffurfio troeon i allu
gweld y ffordd ymlaen a thrin yr ymylon mewn lleoliadau ar wahân, i
ddarparu ar gyfer traffig cludo nwyddau.
• Ffurfio rhan newydd o ffordd gludo breifat i gysylltu Cefn Crib Road
a Blaen y Cwm Road er mwyn osgoi anheddau newydd eu
hadeiladu.
• Gwahanu’r fynedfa bresennol trwy’r safle, rhwng y Comin Gogleddol
a Deheuol, a darparu mynedfa amgen at ddibenion cloddio am fwynau,
am resymau iechyd a diogelwch.
