THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 21A-21 SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAY & SLIP ROADS) AND M62 (EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND LINK ROADS) [TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M6 and M62 Motorways in the Borough of Warrington in the County of Cheshire to enable resurfacing works including the renewal of road markings, road studs, and traffic detector loops, replacement of bridge joints, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed limit on the M6 southbound carriageway between Junctions 21a and 21, from the last point at which the M6 southbound to M62 eastbound link road leaves the carriageway, to a point 500 metres south of Martinscroft New Bridge.
b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 and M62 Motorways:
i. the M6 southbound carriageway through Junction 21a, from the last point at which the M6 southbound to M62 westbound link road leaves the M6 southbound carriageway, to the first point at which the M62 westbound to M6 southbound link road joins the M6 southbound carriageway;
ii. the M6 southbound carriageway between Junctions 21a and 21, from a point 400 metres north of the first point at which the M62 eastbound to M6 southbound link road joins the carriageway, to a point 300 metres south of Martinscroft New Bridge;
iii. the M6 southbound entry and exit slip roads at Junction 21;
iv. the M62 eastbound to M6 southbound link road, from where it splits from the M62 eastbound to M6 northbound link road, to the first point at which it joins the M6 southbound carriageway;
v. the M62 westbound to M6 southbound link road, from where it splits from the M62 westbound to M6 northbound link road, to the first point at which it joins the M6 southbound carriageway.
c) The Order will allow the hard shoulder adjacent to the section of the M6 Motorway described at b) ii above to be used as running lanes. A mandatory 50 miles per hour speed restriction will be imposed on all traffic using the hard shoulder.
The works are expected to take place overnight between 21:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Wednesday 22 August 2018 and ending on Friday 28 September 2018. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6 and M62 Motorways will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles. The restrictions and prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will be indicated by traffic signs.
