(B1278 & C38 SALTERS LANE, SEDGEFIELD) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2018

The Council proposes in not less than 7 days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, to close to all vehicular traffic:

(1) A 150 metre length of C38 between the Salters Lane Industrial Estate Roundabout and the junction with the B1278 Salters Roundabout;



(2) (a) A 430 metre length of B1278 that extends north easterly from its junction with Old Durham Road to the junction with the access road to the Car Park adjacent to Winterton Cottages and the access to Howle Hope; and (b) A 75 metre length of Winterton Avenue that extends northwards from its junction with B1278 Salter Lane Roundabout, by reason of carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.



The maximum duration of the temporary closure under the Order is 18 months and is required from nightly between 7.00 pm and 6.30 am from Wednesday 11 July 2018 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 10 nights. However, on rare occasions, alternative dates for closure may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly. Alternative route: from the southern side of the closure from C38 southwards on Durham Road then south westwards along Station Road to A689 Sands Hall Roundabout then north on A177 (to the junction with B1278 Salter Lane -Phase1, and viceversa) to thejunctionwithC26 and eastwards to Fishburn Crossroads then south on B1278 to the northern side of the closure, and vice versa. Access to Winterton Avenue area will be from A177 onto B1278 then immediately north on Old Durham Road to Wellgarth Mews and Winterton Avenue, and vice versa.
