Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A34 and the A303 Trunk Roads in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to:-
1. authorise the phased overnight closure of -
(a) the eastbound carriageway of the A303 between Bullington Cross (A30/A34) and the side road leading to Upper Cranbourne Farm;
(b) the slip road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the A303 at Bullington
Cross (A30/A34);
(c) the slip road leading from the northbound carriageway of the A34 at Litchfield Interchange; and
(d) the slip roads leading to and from the southbound carriageway of the A34 at Litchfield Interchange.
2. authorise the 24-hour closure of the lay-bys adjacent to both carriageways of the A34 between Bullington Cross (A30/A303) and Litchfield Interchange.
3. impose a 24-hour 50mph speed limit on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 between a point 53 metres east of the centreline of the underbridge at Bullington Cross (A30/A34) and a point 445 metres east of the centreline of the side road leading to Upper Norton Farm.
4. impose a 24-hour width restriction of 3.25 metres in lane 1, and 2.5 metres in lane 2 on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 between points 550 metres west and 345 metres east of the centreline of the side road leading to Upper Norton Farm.
These measures would be in the interests
of road safety while contractors undertake
drainage, barrier, highway maintenance works
and all associated works.
It is expected that the work would last for
approximately 1 month starting on or after
Monday 9th July 2018. The overnight closures
would take place between 21:00 and 06:00
(maximum period).
The Order would come into force on
7th July 2018 and have a maximum duration
of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted via other junctions of the A34 and by using the M3 and the A33. The diversion route would vary depending on the closure in force. The temporary speed limit, narrow lanes, closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
