THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 19-20 NORTHBOUND &
SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP & LINK ROADS) AND
THE M56 MOTORWAY (EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND LINK ROADS)
AND THE A50 TRUNK ROAD (LINK ROAD)
[TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2018
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) Intends to make an Order on the M6 and M56 Motorways and the A50 Trunk Road, In the Boroughs of Cheshire East and Warrington, In the County of Cheshire, to enable resurfacing works Including the renewal of road markings, road studs and traffic detector loops, the replacement of bridge joints and other general maintenance works; to be carried out In safety.
(a) The Order will Impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of the M6 and M56 Motorways:
I. the M6 northbound carriageway, from a point 900 metres north of Old Hall Lane Bridge, to a point 150 metres north of Crowley Hall Bridge;
II. the M6 northbound carriageway, from a point 200 metres north of the M6 North Bridge (which carries the M56 over the M6), to a point 10 metres north of the A50 Lymm Interchange New Bridge;
III. the M56 westbound to M6 northbound link road, from the last point at which the link road leaves the M56 westbound carriageway, to the first point at which the link road joins the M6 northbound carriageway;
iv. the M56 eastbound to M6 northbound link road, from the last point at which the link road leaves the M56 eastbound carriageway, to the first point at which the link road joins the M6 northbound carriageway;
v. the M6 southbound carriageway, from a point 1400 metres north of the A50 Lymm Interchange New Bridge, to a point 300 metres north of the same point;
vi. the M6 southbound carriageway, from a point 100 metres north of Moss Oaks Farm Bridge, to a point 100 metres south of Gore Farm Bridge.
(b) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 and M56 Motorways and the A50 Trunk Road:
i. the M6 northbound carriageway, from a point 200 metres south of the Gore Farm Bridge, to a point 200 metres south of the A50 Lymm Interchange New Bridge;
ii. the M6 southbound carriageway, from a point 100 metres north of the A50 Lymm Interchange New Bridge, to a point 100 metres north of Gore Farm Bridge;
Hi. the M6 northbound carriageway (through Junction 20), from the last point at which the M6 northbound to the M56 westbound/A50 link road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the M56 eastbound to M6 northbound link road joins the carriageway;
iv. the M6 southbound carriageway between junctions 20a and 19, from the last point at which the M6 southbound to M56 eastbound/ westbound link road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the M6 Junction 19 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
v. the M56 westbound to M6 northbound link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M56 westbound carriageway, to the first point at which it joins the M6 northbound carriageway;
vi. the M6 southbound to M56 eastbound/westbound link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M6 southbound carriageway, to the first point at which it joins the A50 southbound to M56 eastbound/westbound link road;
vii. the M56 eastbound to M6 southbound link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M56 eastbound to A50/M6 northbound link road, to the first point at which it joins the M6 southbound carriageway;
viii. the M6 northbound to M56 westbound/A50 link road, from the last point at which it leaves the M6 northbound carriageway, to the first point at which the link roads to the M56 westbound and A50 split;
ix. the A50 to M6 southbound link road, from the last point where it leaves the A50 to M56 eastbound/westbound link road, to the first point at which it joins the M6 southbound carriageway;
x. the M6 southbound exit slip road at junction 19;
xi. the M6 northbound entry slip road at junction 19
(c) The Order will allow the hardshoulder adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described at (b) i and ii above to be used as running lanes. A 50 mph speed limit will be in force on the hardshoulder when used as a running lane
Restrictions (a) and (c) and prohibitions (b) i-ii, v-vii and x are expected to be in place overnight between 21:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 18 June 2018 and ending on Friday 27 July 2018. Prohibitions (b) iii-iv are expected to be in place overnight between 22:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Monday 18 June 2018 and ending on Friday 27 July 2018.
Prohibitions (b) viii-ix and xi are expected to be in place overnight between 21:00 hours and 23:00 hours during a period starting on Monday 18 June 2018 and ending on Friday 27 July 2018. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6, M56 and local roads will be well signed.
The number of running lanes will be maintained on the M6 and M56 throughout the daytime due to high volumes of traffic, as well as during Bank Holiday periods and event periods.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
