Temporary Closure of Public Footpath No 6, Portland
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath No 6, Portland (The coastal footpath) from grid reference SY 6858 7290 to grid reference SY 6830 7254, a distance of approximately 475 metres, and also from grid reference SY 6821 7207 to grid reference SY 6800 7181, a distance of approximately 355 metres. The order is needed in order to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into operation on the 25th June 2018, for a period of 26 weeks, until 24th December 2018. But it may be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
The order is required due to a landslip at both locations along the footpath.
