Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the M25, M1 and A1(M) Motorways and the A1 Trunk Road in the London Boroughs of Barnet and Harrow and the County of Hertfordshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to -
1. authorise the phased overnight closureof:-

(i) the clockwise carriageway of the M25 between Junction 22 (A1081/B556) and Junction 24 (A111/A1005) and the slip roads leading to and from this length;

(ii) the southbound carriageway of the M1 between Junction 6(A405) and Staples Corner Gyratory (Junction 1) (A406) and the slip/link roads connecting to and from this length;

(iii) the northbound carriageway of the M1 between Staples Corner Gyratory

(Junction 1) (A406) and Junction 5(A41);
(iv) both carriageways of the A1 between Stirling Corner Roundabout (A411) and the tip of the nosing of the entry slip road at A1(M) Junction 1(M25Junction 23/A1) and the slip roads leading to and from this length;

(v) the road connecting to the M1 northbound entry slip road from the eastbound road connecting the Edgware Road roundabout to Staples Corner roundabout at Junction 1(A406);

2. authorise the overnight prohibition of traffic from entering/exiting aside road at junction with the lengths of the A1 described in 1(iv); and

3. authorise the 24-hour closureofany lay-by adjacent to the lengths of the A1 described in 1(iv).

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing, road marking, studs and loops replacement, bridge and technology maintenance, carriageway and structural inspections, and all associated work. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 4months starting on or after Monday 2nd July 2018. The overnight closures would take place between the following hours (maximum period):-Monday-Thursday 22:00 - 05:30 Friday 23:00 - 06:00

Saturday 22:00 -06:00

Sunday 22:30 -05:30

The Order would come into force on
30th June 2018 and have amaximum duration
of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted via other junctions on the M25,
M1, A1(M) and the A1, and by using the A5, A41, A111, A405, A406, A411, A414, A1081,
and A5183. The diversion in operation would vary according to the closureinoperation. The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they areinoperation during the works period.
