A303 TRUNK ROAD - NEAR ANDOVER TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A303 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because of the likelihood of danger to the public. The effect of the Order is:
a) to authorise the 24-hour closure of the slip roads leading from and to the eastbound carriageway of the A303 at the Weyhill Services site approximately 3100 metres east of Thruxton Interchange; and
b) to impose a 24-hour 50mph speed restriction on the eastbound carriageway of the A303 between points 25 metres east and 825 metres east of Red Post Lane underbridge.
These measures are in the interests of road safety. The slip roads described in a) above are too short to allow safe acceleration and deceleration in and out of the site. It is expected that this order will last until further notice, until work takes place to correct the danger, at which time a works order will be issued in its place.
The Order will come into force on 5th June 2018 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. Public access to the site will not be permitted other than as exempted for the purposes of site maintenance and security. The temporary closures and speed restriction will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the danger period.
