ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE A590 TRUNK ROAD (PIGWILLY WOOD TO THE M6 JUNCTION 36) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the A590 Trunk Road in the District of South Lakeland in the County of Cumbria to enable a major carriageway reconstruction works, and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:
a) impose a 50 mph speed limit on all traffic on the eastbound carriageway of the A590, from a point 937 metres north of the Summerhouse Bridge, to the point at which the A590 meets the M6 at Junction 36.
b) ban all traffic from the A590 as follows:
   i. in both directions, from a point 748 metres north of the Summerhouse Bridge, to the point where the A590 meets the M6 at Junction 36;
   ii. the eastbound entry slip road from the Brettargh Holt Roundabout;
   iii. the westbound exit slip road to the Brettargh Holt Roundabout.
c) ban all traffic on A590 eastbound carriageway, from a point 15 metres south of the Summerhouse Bridge, to a point 232 metres north of the Woodland Bridge. During the closure of the section of the eastbound carriageway, eastbound traffic will be directed to cross over onto the westbound carriageway where a contraflow system will be in place, operated by temporary traffic signals.
d) impose a no overtaking ban on the eastbound carriageway as described at a) above.
e) impose a width restriction of 3.25 metres (10 feet 8 inches) in lanes, as indicated by traffic signs, on the lengths of carriageway described at b) i above.
f) ban all traffic from the following laybys adjacent to the A590 eastbound and westbound carriageways, situated:
   i. eastbound at a point 582 metres north of the M6 Junction 36;
   ii. eastbound at a point 570 metres north of the Woodland Bridge;
   iii. eastbound at a point 15 metres south of the Tunnel Railway Bridge;
   iv. westbound at a point 694 metres north of the M6 Junction 36;
   v. westbound at a point 933 metres south of the Tunnel Railway Bridge;
   vi. westbound at a point 701 metres south of the Summerhouse Bridge.

Prohibitions b) are expected to be in place overnight between 20:00 and 06:00 during a period starting on Sunday 3 June 2018 and ending on Sunday 29 July 2018. However, work may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed.
Restrictions a), d) and e) and prohibitions c) and f) are expected to take place during a continuous period starting at 20:00 on Sunday 3 June 2018 and ending at 06:00 on Sunday 29 July 2018. However, work may start and continue on subsequent dates or until completed.
Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A590 Trunk Road and local roads will be well signed.
The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will be indicated by traffic signs.
