THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (MORTON PALMS ROUNDABOUT TO LINGFIELD POINT ROUNDABOUT) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Darlington, to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Sunday 10 June 2018 for 3 days or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am at times during the works, to close the:
(i) A66 eastbound and westbound carriageway from Morton Palms Roundabout to Lingfield Point Roundabout, a distance of 1360 metres;
(ii) layby situated adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway approximately 528 metres north of Morton Palms Roundabout; and
(iii) layby situated adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 275 metres south of Lingfield Point Roundabout.
During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, to impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound carriageways from Morton Palms Roundabout to Lingfield Point Roundabout, a distance of 400 metres. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 9 June 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
