ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 THE CHESTER ROAD (B5569) & WARRINGTON ROAD (A50) & SIDE ROADS) (30 AND 40 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 2018
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has on the 14th May 2018 made the above-mentioned Order, under Sections 84 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A556 Trunk Road in the Districts of Knutsford and Cheshire East in the County of Cheshire in accordance with The A556 (Knutsford to Bowdon Improvement) Development Consent Order made on 14th May 2018.
Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has on the 14th May 2018 made the above-mentioned Order, under Sections 84 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the A556 Trunk Road in the Districts of Knutsford and Cheshire East in the County of Cheshire in accordance with The A556 (Knutsford to Bowdon Improvement) Development Consent Order made on 14th May 2018.
The Order will apply to the new road layout on the A556 constructed as a result of the A556 Trunk Road Knutsford to Bowdon Improvement Scheme. The effect of the Order will be to:-
(a) impose a 40 miles per hour speed restriction on the following lengths of carriageway:
i. Millington Lane, in both directions, from the junction of Chester Road (B5569), to a point 189 metres east of the junction with Millington Hall Lane;
ii. Millington Hall Lane, in both directions, from the junction of Millington Hall Lane and Chester Road (B5569), to the Millington Hall Lane eastern turning head;
iii. Warrington Road (A50), in both directions, from a point 150 metres west of the most western junction with the B5569 (Chester Road), to a point 274 metres east of the junction with Hoo Green Lane, and all of the carriageways contained within the new A50 link roundabout;
iv. Cherry Tree Lane, in both directions, from a point 46 metres west of the access/egress to and from Cheery Tree Farm, to the junction of Cherry Tree Lane with the Chester Road (B5569);
v. Old Hall Lane, in both directions, from a point 113 metres east of the eastern abutment of the M6 Motorway overbridge (including the carriageways contained within the new Tabley Junction), to the centreline of the new roundabout at the junction with Old Hall Lane West and Chester Road (B5569);
vi. Chester Road (B5569), in both directions, from the southern turning head, to a point 182 metres south of the junction with Warrington Road (A50) (including all carriageways contained within the new Chester Road (B5569) junction with Old Hall Lane;
vii. Chester Road (B5569), in both directions, from a point 128 metres north of its junction with Chapel Lane, to its junction with Cherry Tree Lane (including all of the carriageways contained within the new Millington Hall Lane/Chapel Lane Link (east) roundabout;
   b) impose a 30 miles per hour speed restriction on the following lengths of carriageway:
i. Bucklow Hill Lane, in both directions, from its junction with Chester Road (B5569), to the eastern turning head;
ii. Warrington Road (A50), in both directions, from a point 150 metres west of the most western junction of Chester Road (B5569), to a point 143 metres east of the most eastern junction of Warrington Road (A50)/Chester Road (B5569);
iii. Chapel Lane, in both directions, from its junction with Chester Road (B5569), to a point 74 metres east of its junction with Hulsheath Lane;
iv. Mereside Road, in both directions, from its junction with the Chester Road (B5569), to a point 512 metres south of Cicely Mill Lane;
v. Chester Road (B5569), in both directions, from a point 182 metres south of its junction with Warrington Rod (A50), to a point 128 metres north of its junction with Chapel Lane;

The speed limits will not apply to vehicles being used for emergency purposes by the police, fire and rescue authority, ambulance services, or special-forces.
The public consultation period closed upon the making of The A556 (Knutsford to Bowdon Improvement) Development Consent Order on 28th August 2014, but a copy of the Traffic Regulation Order and Notice, together with Plans, and a Statement of Reasons, have been deposited, for information, at the Knutsford Library, Toft Road, Knutsford, WA14 0PG, and also at the offices of Costain Site Compound, Lymm Road, Little Bollington, WA14 4TP, where they may be inspected during normal opening hours, or they may be seen at, or obtained by application to, the Director, Highways England Company Limited, Major Projects, Piccadilly Gate, Store Street, Manchester, M1 2WD, making reference to this Notice.
