ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 -SECTION 14 THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (BOWES JUNCTION TO THORPE GRANGE JUNCTION) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in County Durham, to enable safety barrier replacement, trial hole investigation and survey works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Monday 14 May 2018 for 32 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to impose, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works a temporary:
(i) 40mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 530 metres west of Bowes Junction to 650 metres east of Bowes Junction, a distance of 1180 metres;
(ii) 40mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 275 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction to 600 metres east of Birk House Junction, a distance of 1005 metres;
(iii) 40mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound carriageway from 650 metres east of Bowes Junction to 275 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction, a distance of 4005 metres;
(iv) 40mph speed restriction on the A66 westbound carriageway from 275 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction to 650 metres east of Bowes Junction, a distance of 4005 metres;
(v) 10mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from 45 metres west of Birk House Junction to 270 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction, a distance of 230 metres;
(vi) 10mph speed restriction on the A66 westbound carriageway from 275 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction to 180 metres west of Scargill Junction, a distance of 980 metres; and
(vii) 10mph speed restriction on the A66 eastbound carriageway from 180 metres west of Scargill Junction to 274 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction, a distance of 980 metres; The 10mph speed restriction will only apply when, for safety reasons, traffic has to be escorted through the works by a highway maintenance vehicle. It will be necessary, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works, to close the, A66:
(viii) eastbound carriageway from Scargill Junction to 275 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction, a distance of 800 metres; during which times traffic will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway using a contraflow system;
(ix) westbound carriageway from 275 metres east of Cross Lanes Junction to Scargill Junction, a distance of 800 metres, during which times traffic will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway using a contraflow system;
(x) eastbound and westbound carriageways as described in (v); and
(xi) bus stop area situated adjacent to the eastbound carriageway approximately 120 metres west of Clint overbridge. During the closures suitable signed alternative routes will be available. It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, to close the:
(xii) gaps in the central reservation of the A66 between Bowes Junction and Cross Lanes Junction;
(xiii) the layby adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 705 metres east of Thorpe Grange Junction;
(xiv)the layby adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 150 metres east of Kilmond Wood Quarry Junction; (xv) the layby adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway approximately 510 metres west of Clint overbridge; and (xvi)the layby adjacent to the eastbound carriageway approximately 170 metres east of North Side Farm Junction. Access will be maintained at all times to premises and property which are accessible from, and only from, the A66. The Order comes into force on 13 May 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 51 TO JUNCTION 50) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in District of Hambleton and Harrogate, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable carriageway patching and routine maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Monday 14 May 2018 for 5 weeks, or until completed, and will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am. The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1(M)
(i) southound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 51 (Leeming Bar) to the entry slip road at Junction 50 (Baldersby), a distance of 17200 metres; and
(ii) southbound entry slip road at Junction 51. During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times
The Order comes into force on 13 May 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (SCOTCH CORNER ROUNDABOUT TO MOOR LANE JUNCTION) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the County of North Yorkshire, to enable pavement coring works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Tuesday 15 May 2018 for 2 days or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to impose, between the hours of 8pm and 6am, for the duration of the works, a temporary, 50mph, speed restriction on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways from Scotch Corner Roundabout to 1120 metres east of its junction with Moor Lane, a distance of 6000 metres. It will also be necessary to close, for 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, the layby situated adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 352 metres west of Scotch Corner Roundabout. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and The Order comes into force on 14 May 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
THE A1(M) MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 49 TO JUNCTION 51) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in the Districts of Harrogate and Hambleton, to enable carriageway resurfacing and the reinstatement of road markings, road studs and traffic detection loop works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start at 8pm on Monday 4 June 2018 for 19 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will now be to close, 24 hours a day, at times during the works the,
A1(M):
(i) northbound carriageway from the underbridge at Bedale Road, Leeming Bar to the A61 overbridge at Junction 50 (Baldersby Interchange), a distance of 15300 metres; during which times traffic will be diverted onto the opposite carriageway using a contraflow system with hard shoulder running;
(ii) northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at Junction 50; and
(iii) northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at Junction 51 (Leeming Bar).
It will be necessary to impose, 24 hours a day, at times during the works, a temporary 50mph and 60mph speed restriction, and on specified lanes, ban vehicles with an overall width exceeding 6'6" on the A1(M) northbound and southbound carriageways from the A168 overbridge at Dishforth Road to 2000 metres north of the A684 overbridge at Leeming Bar, a distance of 21800 metres. It will also be necessary to close, between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works the, A1(M):
(i) northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 50 to the entry slip road at Junction 51, a distance of 17500 metres; and
(ii) southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 51 to the entry slip road at Junction 50, a distance of 17500 metres.
During the carriageway and slip road closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day. The Order comes into force on 3 June 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes).
