Temporary Closure of Public Footpath 34, Lodmoor, Weymouth
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of
this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations
Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding
along [1] Footpath 34, from grid reference E,368462 N,81688 to grid
reference E,368424 N,81606,a distance of approximately 435 metres. [2]
Adopted footpath between grid reference E,368424 N,81606 and grid
reference E,368388 N,81530. The order is needed in order to comply with
Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas
and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It will come into
operation on 07th May 2018 for a period of 26 weeks, (06th November
2018). But it may be extended, with the approval of the Secretary of State for
Transport, if necessary. The closure will only be in place, as and when required,
which shall be indicated by the signs placed on site.
This closure is required to allow Weymouth and Portland Borough Council
safe access to carry out trial pits and undertake bridge construction.
For the period of this footpath closure an alternative route will be signposted on site
using footpaths around the Lodmoor Reserve.
