CITY OF YORK COUNCIL TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under
Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the
28th day of March 2018 in respect of each of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) and (4).
Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to
make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of each of the locations numbered
(5), (6) and (7).
(1) ROUGIER STREET & LENDAL ARCH GYRATORY, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of (i) Rougier
Street, York between its junctions with George Hudson Street and Station Road; (ii) Station
Avenue, York; (iii) Station Rise, York between its junction with Station Road and Leeman
Road and (iv) Station Road, York between the vehicular access to The Principal Hotel
and a point 30 metres north east of its junction with Rougier Street (closed road) during
the period when carriageway resurfacing works are being undertaken thereon that period
commencing at 2030hrs on the 8th day of April 2018 and ending at 0600hrs on the 20th
day of April 2018 or on a date when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier.
This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the works
will be undertaken in 3 phases during the works period and the closures only be put in to
effect during an overnight period, between 2030hrs and 0530hrs on each night with the
exception of Friday and Saturday nights during the works period. An alternative route for
diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(2) BULL LANE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Bull Lane, York between its
junctions with Lawrence Street and Arthur Street (closed road) during the period when gas
works being undertaken thereon, that period commencing at 0800hrs on the 10th day of
April 2018 and ending at 1700hrs on the 16th day of April 2018 (works period) or at a time
when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the
said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed
during the works period.
(3) NATIONAL CYCLE ROUTE 65
This Order prohibits pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in National Cycle Route
65, York between Sim Balk Lane and the York-Selby Cycle path, York (closed cycle path)
during the period when works to remove vegetation and re-profiling of the drainage ditch
adjacent to the A64 being undertaken thereon that period commencing at 0930hrs on
the 3rd day of April 2018 and ending at 2400hrs on the 27th day of April 2018 (works
period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is
to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the works will
be undertaken between 0930hrs - 1530hrs and 2000hrs - 0800hrs on each day during
the works period. An alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed
during the works period.
(4) FEASEGATE, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Feasegate, York (closed road)
during the period when nearby roof maintenance works being undertaken by crane operation
from within the closed road, that period commencing at 2000hrs on the 9th day of April 2018
and ending at 0500hrs on the 10th day of April 2018 or at a time when the works have been
completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried
out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be available during the works period.
(5) THE VILLAGE, WIGGINTON
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in The Village, Wigginton
between its junction with Church Lane and the eastern property boundary line of The Black
Horse Public House (closed road) during the period commencing at 0800hrs and ending
at 1200hrs on the 15th day of April 2018 (works period) or at time when water works being
undertaken thereon, have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the
said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed
during the works period.
(6) CHURCH LANE, HAXBY
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Church Lane, Haxby
(closed road) during the period commencing at 0930hrs and ending at 1530hrs on the
25th day of April 2018 (works period) or at time when telecommunication works being
undertaken thereon, have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the
said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed
during the works period.
(7) WHELDRAKE LANE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of Wheldrake
Lane, York between its junction with A19 (York-Selby Road) and a point 50 metres east of
the said junction (closed road) during the period commencing at 1900hrs on the 25th day
of April 2018 and ending at 0500hrs on the 5th day of May 2018 (works period) or at time
when carriageway resurfacing works being undertaken on the A19 have been completed
whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.
Additionally, vehicle speeds will be restricted to 20 miles per hour (mph) in that length
of A19 (York-Selby Road) between points 300 metres south and 280 metres north of its
junction with Wheldrake Lane, thereby suspending the current 40mph speed limit from
within that length during the works period. It is envisaged that the works and closure will
only be put into effect during an overnight period, between 1900hrs and 0500hrs on each
night during the works period. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during
the works period. Vehicle movements on A19 (York-Selby Road) will be reduced to single
file operation controlled by traffic signals during the works period.
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they
prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or
safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
