CITY OF YORK COUNCIL - TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under
Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), made an Order on the
21st day of March 2018 in respect of each of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3) and (4).
Additionally, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to
make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of each of the locations numbered
(5), (6) and (7).
(1) NORTH MOOR CROFT, HUNTINGTON
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in North Moor Croft, Huntington
(closed road) during the period when water works being undertaken thereon, that period
commencing at 0930hrs and ending at 1530hrs on the 27th day of March 2018 (works
period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to
ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. No alternative route for diverted traffic
will be available during the works period.
(2) SCARBOROUGH BRIDGE, YORK
This Order prohibits pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in the footbridge (known as
Scarborough Bridge) over the River Ouse, York (closed footpath) during the period when
bridge maintenance works being undertaken thereon that period commencing at 2300hrs
on the 6th day of April 2018 and ending at 0700hrs on the 7th day of April 2018 (works
period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to
ensure that the said works can be carried out safely.
(3) CHURCH LANE, WIGGINTON
This Order prohibits pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in Church Lane, Wigginton
between the southern and northern property boundary line of No 24 Plantation Way,
Wigginton (closed footpath) during the period when tree felling works being undertaken
thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on the 27th day of March 2018 and ending at 1830hrs on
the 28th day of March 2018 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed
whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An
alternative route for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be signed during the works period.
(4) MARKET STREET, YORK
This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Market Street, York (closed
road) during the period when carriageway re-instatement works being undertaken thereon,
that period commencing at 1900hrs on the 26th day of March 2018 and ending at 0600hrs
on the 28th day of March 2018 (works period) or at a time when the works have been
completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out
safely. Additionally, the ‘ONE WAY’ direction of traffic flow in Market Street & Feasegate is
suspended during the period of physical closure to allow two-way traffic flow in the said
roads when the closure is put into effect. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be
signed during the works period.
(5) NATIONAL CYCLE ROUTE 65, YORK
This Order will prohibit pedestrians and vehicles from proceeding in National Cycle Route
65, York between Sim Balk Lane and the York-Selby Cycle path, York (closed cycle path)
during the period commencing at 0930hrs on the 3rd day of April 2018 and ending at
2400hrs on the 27th day of April 2018 (works period) or on a date when works to remove
vegetation and re-profiling of the drainage ditch adjacent to the A64 being undertaken
thereon have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works
can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the works will be undertaken between 0930hrs
- 1530hrs and 2000hrs - 0800hrs on each day during the works period. An alternative route
for diverted pedestrians and vehicles will be available during the works period.
(6) FEASEGATE, YORK
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Feasegate, York (closed
road) during the period commencing at 2000hrs on the 9th day of April 2018 and ending
at 0500hrs on the 10th day of April 2018 (works period) or at a time when nearby roof
maintenance works being undertaken by crane operation from within the closed road have
been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried
out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period.
(7) BEECHLANDS, ACASTER MALBIS
This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in Beechlands, Acaster Malbis
between its junctions with Broad Lane and Acaster Lane (closed road) during the period
commencing at 0800hrs and ending at 1500hrs on the 17th day of April 2018 (works period)
or at time when works to replace a telegraph pole, being undertaken thereon, have been
completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried
out safely. An alternative route for diverted traffic will be signed during the works period
The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they
prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or
safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
