M27 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 1) AND A31 TRUNK ROAD (NEAR CADNAM) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the M27 Motorway and A31 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to:
1) authorise the overnight closure of both carriageways of the M27 between the exit and entry slips at Junction 1 (A31/B3079); and

2) impose a 50mph speed restriction on;

a) the westbound carriageway of the M27 between Newbridge Road underbridge and the slip road leading to the westbound carriageway of the A31;

b) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between Highland Water underbridge and the slip road leading from it;

c) the slip road leading from the westbound carriageway of the M27; and

d) the slip road leading from the eastbound carriageway of the A31;

at M27 Junction 1 (A31/B3079). These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake bridge works including inspections, bridge joint and bearings replacement, waterproofing and all associated bridge maintenance, drainage, carriageway resurfacing and all associated work. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 4 weeks starting on or after Tuesday 8th May 2018. The overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 05:30 (maximum period). The Order would come into force on 6 May 2018 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures would be directed to leave the carriageway and re-join after the junction.
The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
