M4 MOTORWAY - NEAR READING TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the M4 Motorway in the Unitary Authorities of Reading and Wokingham, under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road.
The effect of the Order would be to authorise the phased overnight closure of:-
1) both carriageways of the M4 between Junction 11 (A33) and Junction 10 (A329(M)); and
2) i) the road leading to the eastbound carriageway of the M4; ii) the road leading from the westbound carriageway of the M4; at Junction 11 (A33/B3270); iii)the roads connecting the eastbound carriageway of the M4 to both carriageways of the A329(M); iv)the road connecting to the westbound carriageway of the M4 from the southbound carriageway of the A329(M) at Junction 10 (A329M); and v) the road connecting to the westbound carriageway of the M4 from the northbound carriageway of the A329(M) at Junction 10 (A329M); at Junction 10 (A329M).
These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake the replacement of an overhead electricity conductor between towers on opposite sides of the Motorway.
It is expected that the work would occur in phases over two consecutive Friday nights starting on Friday 4th May 2018 with contingency to continue on the following Saturdays if required. The overnight closures would take place between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period).
The Order would come into force on 2nd May 2018 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using the B3270 and A329(M). The temporary closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
