HighwoysEnoJond Section 47 Plannini Act 20DB A3D3 Stonehenie: Anesbury to Berwick Down Notice of publication of updated Statement of Connunity Consultation

HIGHWAYS ENGLAND COMPANY UNITED of Bridge House, 1 Walnut Tree Close, Guildford, GU14LZ ("Highways England") has now published an updated Statement of Community Consultation ("SoCC") for the A303 Stonehenge: Amesbury to Berwick Down Scheme ("A303 Stonehenge"), in accordance with Section 47 of the Planning Act 2008. Under Section 47 Highways England has a duty to consult the local community about its proposals in accordance with its SoCC.

As a result of recent adverse weather conditions, Highways England made the decision to cancel the consultation events proposed in Mere on Thursday 1 March 2018 and Salisbury on Saturday 3 March 2018. Highways England has now rearranged those consultation events, the details of which are set out below and, having consulted with Wiltshire Council, has revised its SoCC. As a consequence of the rearranged events, Highways England has extended the consultation period to Monday 23 April 2018. Highways England is proposing to upgrade the A303 past Stonehenge between Amesbury and Berwick Down to a dual twoJane carriageway. The Scheme is approximately 8 miles (nearly 13km) long and comprises the following key elements:

■ A bypass to the north of Winterboume Stoke with a viaduct over the Till valley;

? A new junction between the A303 and A360 to the west of and outside the Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites World Heritage Site (The World Heritage Site), replacing the existing Longbarrow roundabout;

? A twin-bore tunnel at least 1.8 miles (2.9 km) long past Stonehenge;

? A new junction between the A303 and A345 at the site of the existing Countess roundabout;

The Scheme is an Environmental Impact Assessment development ("EIA development"), which means a Preliminary Environmental Information Report ("PEI Report") will be produced and consulted on. The PEI Report will describe the environmental effects of the A303 Stonehenge scheme known at the time of consultation.

Highways England is undertaking its statutory consultation for the proposed A303 Stonehenge scheme between Thursday 8 February 2018 and Monday 23 April 2016. The SoCC explains how Highways England will consult the local community and how you can get involved, view the consultation materials (including plans, consultation booklet, response form, updated SoCC and PEI Report) and speak with members of the Project Team at the following locations, dates and times:
