1. NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 16Ato 16C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect:-
(a) No person shall cause or permit any vehicle that is not participating in, or connected with, the Marathon to proceed in, exit from, or turn into any of the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Order between
06:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 except upon the direction or with the permission of
a police constable in uniform or a uniformed marshal.
(b) No parking, waiting, loading or unloading of a vehicle is to take place on any of the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order and which constitute the Brighton Marathon Route between the hours of 18:00hrs on Saturday 14th April 2018 and 22:00hrs on Sunday 15thApril 2018.
(c) The current traffic flow or priority in those lengths of road specified in schedule 3 to this order will be rescinded between the hours of 06:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 unless under the direction or permission to the contrary of an uniformed police constable or a uniformed marshal.
(d) No person shall cause or permit any vehicle that is not participating in, or connected with, the Marathon to proceed in, exit from, or turn into Madeira Drive between 06:00 hours on Friday 13th April 2018 and 23:59 hours on Monday 16th April 2018 except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform or uniformed
marshal.
(e) The current prohibition of vehicles accessing, proceeding in and exiting Little Street shall be suspended between the junction of Little East Street with Bartholomews and with Kings Road in order to allow access to and egress from the Laines car park between the hours of 06:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 unless under the direction or permission to the contrary of a uniformed police constable or uniformed marshal.
(f) The current prohibition of vehicles except buses and taxis shall be suspended in North Street between the junction of Western Road and Castle Square in order to allow access to and egress from the Laines car park between the hours of 06:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 unless under the direction or permission to the contrary of a uniformed police constable or uniformed marshal
(g) The currently prohibited Right Turn from Queens Road southbound at

the junction with North Street shall be suspended in order to allow traffic to proceed west on Dyke Road between the hours of 06:00 hours on
Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018
unless under the direction or permission to the contrary of a uniformed police constable or a uniformed marshal.
(h)The currently prohibition of vehicles except cycles shall be suspended in Ship Street between North Street and Duke Street in order to allow access to the Laines car park between the hours of 06:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 unless under the direction or permission to the contrary of a uniformed police constable or
uniformed marshal.
(i) The current cycle lane orders on Kings Road 2-way on southern footway from its junction with Grand Junction Road to its junction with Kingsway, Hove and Grand Junction Road 2-way on southern footway from its junction with Madeira Drive westwards to its junction with Kings Road shall be suspended between the hours of 06:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018.
(j) The current traffic flow and priority on the eastbound carriageway of Kingsway between Albany Villas and Fourth Avenue will be amended to allow for the installation of a two-way contraflow traffic system between the hours of 09:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 16:00 hours
on Sunday 15th April 2018 unless under the direction or permission to the contrary of a uniformed police constable or a uniformed marshal.
(k) The current traffic flow and priority on the eastbound carriageway of
Kingsway between Albany Villas and Fourth Avenue will be amended
to allow for the installation of a two-way contraflow traffic system between the hours of 09:00 hours on Sunday 15th April and 16:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 unless under the direction or permission to the contrary of a uniformed police constable or a
uniformed marshal.
(l) In order to allow Mill Road Brighton to be used as a park and ride area for the benefit of participants in the Marathon no person shall cause or permit any vehicle other than those listed in column 1 to Schedule 4 to this Order ("an authorised vehicle") to proceed in, exit from or turn into
that length of Mill Road as is specified in column 2 to Schedule 4 to this
Order between the hours of 06:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and 22:00 hours on Sunday 15th April 2018 and the direction of a uniformed
police constable or uniformed marshal and the driver of an authorised vehicle shall not cause or permit the vehicles to proceed along the length of Mill Road as specified in column 2 to Schedule 4 to this Order otherwise in a south westerly direction.
(m)This order shall be cited as The Brighton & Hove (Brighton Marathon) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2018.

Motor vehicles adapted to carry not more than 17 passengers inclusive of the
drive and not drawing a trailer and being used to transport persons registered to participate in the Marathon.
Mill Road Brighton from a point 20 metres southwest of the south western
kerb line of Waterhall Road south westwards for a distance of 1480 metres
Buses and coaches authorised by the Council in connection with the use of Mill Road as a park and ride area.
2. The Order is necessary to allow the holding of the Brighton Marathon 2018

3. This Order comes into force 6th April 2018 and

be in force for no longer than 3 days. "
