The High Court has appointed Hugh James and Irwin Mitchell as lead solicitors in a group action for conditions associated with employment at coke works operated by British Steel. Specifically:
* chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
* bladder cancer*
* chronic bronchitis
* temporary exacerbation of asthma
* lung cancer
* squamous cell skin cancer
A closing date for notification of claims has been set by the Court as 23 February 2018.
If you think you or a deceased family member may have been affected and worked in a British Steel coke fuel plant as a coke oven worker and wish to consider joining the group, please contact Hugh James or Irwin Mitchell urgently. They will send you further information and assess whether you may be eligible to join the group and claim compensation.
You may instruct an alternative solicitor other than Hugh James or Irwin Mitchell, and if you do it will be their responsibility to submit notice on behalf of any individual wishing to join the litigation to Hugh James and Irwin Mitchell and to the Defendants, before the closing date for notification of claims.
*The separate deadline to join the group litigation for bladder cancer only cases is 23 April 2018.
