THE M6 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 19-20 NORTHBOUND & SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP & LINK ROADS) AND THE M56 MOTORWAY (LINK ROAD) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M6 and M56 Motorways, in the Boroughs of Cheshire East and Warrington, in the County of Cheshire, to enable structural maintenance works, resurfacing works including the renewal of road markings and road studs, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety, (a) The Order will impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the following sections of the M6 and M56 Motorways:
i. the M6 northbound carriageway, from a point 150 metres north of Crowley Hall Bridge, to a point 200 metres north of the M6 north bridge (which carries the M56 over the M6);
ii. the M6 northbound link road to the M56 westbound carriageway and A50, from the last point where it leaves the M6 northbound carriageway, to the last point at which the link roads to the M56 and A50 split;

iii. the M6 southbound carriageway, from a point 300 metres north of the A50 Lymn Interchange New Bridge, to a point 100 metres north of Moss Oaks Farm Bridge;

iv. the link road from the A50 to the M6 southbound carriageway, from the last point where it leaves the link road to the M56 eastbound and westbound carriageways, to the first point where it joins the M6 southbound carriageway;

v. the M56 junction 9 link road to the M6 southbound carriageway, from the last point where it leaves the link road to the A50 and M6 northbound, to the first point where it joins the M6 southbound carriageway.

(b). The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the M6 and M56 Motorways:
i. the M6 northbound carriageway, from the last point where the junction 19 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point where the junction 20 link road from the M56 westbound joins the carriageway;

ii. the M6 southbound carriageway, from the last point where the junction 20a link road to the M56 leaves the southbound carriageway, to the first point where the link road from the M56 eastbound joins the carriageway;

iii. the northbound entry slip road at junction 19;

iv. the M6 junction 20 northbound link road as described at (a) ii above;

v. the M6 northbound junction 20 link road to the M56 westbound carriageway and A50, from the last point where it leaves the M6 northbound carriageway, to the last point at which the link roads to the M56 and A50 split;

vi. the M6 junction 20 northbound link road to the A50, from the last point where it leaves the M6 northbound carriageway, to both the M56 westbound and A50, to the first point where it merges with the A50.

(c) The Order will impose a width restriction of 1.95 metres (6 feet 6 inches) in lanes, as Indicated by traffic signs, on the sections of the carriageway described at (a) i and iii above. Restrictions (a) and (c) are expected to take place during a continuous period starting at 00:01 hours on Saturday 3 March 2018 and ending at 23:59 hours on Friday 5 October 2018. However, work may start and continue beyond these dates until completed.
Prohibitions (b) are expected to be in place overnight between 23:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 06:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Friday 2 March 2018 and ending on Friday 5 October 2018. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M6, M56 and local roads will be well signed. The number of running lanes will be maintained on the M6 throughout the daytime due to high volumes of traffic, as well as during Bank Holiday periods and event periods. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
