THE M60 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 20-21 CLOCKWISE CARRIAGEWAY AND SLIP ROAD)
[TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the M60 Motorway in the City of Manchester and the Boroughs of Rochdale and Oldham in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable barrier replacement works and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:
i. impose a 50 mph speed restriction on the M60 clockwise carriageway, between junctions 20 and 21, from Pike Fold South Bridge, to a point 330 metres west of the B6393 Greengate Bridge;
ii. ban all traffic from the M60 clockwise carriageway, between junctions 20 and 21, from the last point at which the junction 20 exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to the first point at which the junction 21 entry slip road joins the carriageway;
iii. ban all traffic from the M60 clockwise junction 21 exit slip road;
iv. impose a width restriction of 2.75 metres (9 feet) on the M60 clockwise carriageway between junctions 20 and 21, as indicated by traffic signs, from a point 285 metres east of the Rochdale Road Bridge, to a point
20 metres east of Blackley Golf Course Bridge. Prohibition iii is expected to take place overnight between 20:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Wednesday 14 March 2018 and ending on Saturday 28 April 2018. Prohibition ii is expected to take place overnight between 21:00 hours and 05:00 hours (continuing to 07:00 hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings) during a period starting on Wednesday 14 March 2018 and ending on Saturday 28 April 2018. However, works may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed.
Restrictions i and iv are expected to be in place over a continuous period starting at 05:00 hours on Thursday 15 March 2018 and ending at 21:00 hours on Friday 27 April 2018. However, work may start and continue on subsequent dates until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M60 Motorway, A663, A664, A6140, and local roads will be well signed. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions and restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.
