THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (THORNABY ROAD INTERCHANGE TO STOCKTON ROAD INTERCHANGE)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways
England Company Limited intends to make an
Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of
Stockton-on-Tees, in the County of Durham,
to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be
carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Tuesday 3 April 2018 for 13 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works between 8pm and 6am, the:
(i) A66 westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Stockton Road Interchange to the entry slip road at the A1045 Thornaby Road Interchange, a distance of 3090 metres

(ii) A66 westbound entry slip road at Teeside Park Interchange;

(iii) A66 westbound exit slip road at Acklam Road Interchange;

(iv) A66 westbound exit slip road at Teeside Park Interchange;

(v) link road connecting the A19 southbound carriageway with the A66 westbound carriageway at Stockton Road Interchange; and

(vi) link road connecting the A19 northbound carriageway with the A66 westbound carriageway at Stockton Road Interchange;

(vii) layby situated adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 365 metres west Acklam Road Interchange;

(viii) layby situated adjacent to the A19 southbound carriageway approximately 500 metres north of Portrack Lane Interchange;

(ix) layby situated adjacent to the A19 northbound carriageway approximately 680 metres south of Mandale Interchange; and

(x) layby situated adjacent to the A66 eastbound carriageway approximately 1420 metres east of Acklam Road Interchange;

It will also be necessary, for 24 hours a day, at times during the works, to impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction on the:
(xi) A66 westbound carriageway from the entry slip road at the A19 Stockton Road Interchange to the exit slip road at the A135 Yarm Road Interchange, a distance of 3520 metres; and

(xii) slip roads and link roads mentioned in (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v);

During the closures, suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for traffic officer or winter maintenance purposes). The Order comes into force on 2 April 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
