THE A64 TRUNK ROAD (ASKHAM BAR INTERCHANGE TOHOPGROVE ROUNDABOUT)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A64 Trunk Road, in the City of York, to enable safety barrier replacement and routine/cyclic maintenance works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Monday 5 February 2018 for 8 weeks, or until completed. The effect of the Order will be to impose, 24 hours a day, at times during the works, a 50mph speed restriction on the A64:
(i) westbound carriageway from 600 metres east of Dams Lands Lane overbridge to 240 metres west of the entry slip road at the A1036 Askham Bar Interchange, a distance of 5200 metres;

(ii) westbound carriageway from its junction at Hopgrove Roundabout to 200 metres west of Bad Bargain Lane overbridge, a distance of 1600 metres;
(iii) eastbound carriageway from 750 metres west of the exit slip road at the A1237 Askham Bryan Interchange to the exit slip road at the A19 Fulford Interchange, a distance of 6375 metres;
(iv) eastbound carriageway from 320 metres east of the northern overbridge at the A1079/A166 Grimston Bar Interchange to 200 metres east of Bad Bargain Lane overbridge, a distance of 2200 metres;
(v) westbound entry slip road at Fulford Interchange;
(vi) eastbound entry slip road at Askham Bryan Interchange; and
(vii) eastbound entry slip road at Askham Bar Interchange.

It will be necessary to close between 8pm and 6am, at times during the works the A64:
(i) westbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Fulford Interchange to the entry slip road at Askham Bar Interchange, a distance of 4888 metres;

(ii) westbound carriageway from its junction at Hopgrove Roundabout to the entry slip road at Grimston Bar Interchange, a distance of 4596 metres;

(iii) eastbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Askham Bar Interchange to the entry slip road at Fulford Interchange, a distance of 5494 metres;

(iv) eastbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Grimston Bar Interchange to its junction at Hopgrove Roundabout, a distance of 4448 metres;

(v) westbound entry and eastbound exit slip roads at Fulford Interchange;

(vi) eastbound entry and westbound exit slip roads at Askham Bar Interchange; and

(vii) eastbound entry and westbound exit slip roads at Grimston Bar Interchange.

During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times. It will also be necessary to close, 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, the laybys adjacent to the A64 eastbound and westbound carriageways between Askham Bryan Interchange and Hopgrove Roundabout. Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance). This Order comes into force on 4 February 2018 and has a maximum duration of 18 months.
