NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in County Durham, to enable sign replacement works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Thursday 18 January 2018 for 4 nights, or until completed, and will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am. The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1(M):
(i) northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 60 (Bradbury) to the entry slip road at Junction 61 (Bowburn), a distance of 9785 metres;

It will be necessary to impose a temporary 50mph speed restriction, at times during the works, on the above length of northbound carriageway as described in (i). Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restriction (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 17 January 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
