M1 MOTORWAY(JUNCTIONS 6A TO 6) TEMPORARYTRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on theMIMotorway in the County of Hertfordshire, under Section 14(1)(a), 14(1)(b)and 15(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works areproposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be, in alternate phases, to:-
1. impose a24-hour 50 mph speed limit and narrow lanes on the M1 southbound between Junction 6A (M25 Junction 21) and Junction 6(A405); and
2. authorise the overnight closureofthe M1 southbound between Junction 6A (M25 Junction 21) and Junction 6(A405).
These measures would be in the interests of road safety due to parapet damage while contractors aresourced to undertake the associated repair works.
It is expected that the 24-hour speed limit and narrow lanes would start at 00:01 on Tuesday 13 February 2018.
The overnight closures would take place over approximately 14 nights once the timetable has been set and would be advertised. The overnight closures would take place between (maximum period):
Monday-Thursdays 22:00-05:30 Fridays 23:00-06:00
Saturdays 22:00 -06:00
Sundays 22:30 -05:30
The Orderwould come into force on 11 February 2018 and continue until completion of the works. Traffic affected by the closures would be diverted using other junctions of the M25 and the A405. The diversion route may vary closer to the time depending on other works in the area. The temporary speed limit, narrow lanes, closures and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they areinoperation during thedanger and works period.
