A303 TRUNK ROAD (M3 JUNCTION 8 - PARKHOUSE CROSS) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited has made an Order on the A303 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, and Unitary Authority of Wiltshire, under Section 14(1)(a) and 14(1)(c) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order is to authorise the overnight closure of:-
(a) both carriageways of the A303 between its junction with the M3 at Junction 8 and Parkhouse Cross (A338);
(b) the slip roads leading to and from the carriageways described in (a) above;
(c) access to and from any side road at junction with the lengths of carriageway described in (a) above;
(d) any lay-by adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in (a) above; and
(e) any bus stop adjacent to the lengths of carriageway described in (a) above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake a 12 month programme of planned Cyclical Maintenance (drainage, lighting, signage, inspections and surveys, maintenance and clearance of vegetation, litter picking and clearance, road sweeping, emergency crossing point maintenance and clearance of injurious weeds). The duration of each closure will vary depending on the nature of the maintenance work being undertaken on each occasion. The programme of works will start on or after 1st January 2018. The overnight closures will be in operation between 21:00 and 06:00 (maximum period). The Order will come into force on 1st January 2018 and shall remain in force until 23rd December 2018. During the closures, traffic affected will be diverted using other junctions of the A303, or the M3, A34, A30, A33, A3057, A3093, A343, A342, A3026, A338 and B3084. The diversion routes will vary depending on the closure in place and will be clearly signed. Access to and from premises accessible from, and only from, the lengths of carriageway to be closed will be permitted. The temporary lay-by closures, bus stop closures, side road closures, slip road, carriageway closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works periods.
