THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (BLANDS CORNER ROUNDABOUT TO NEASHAM ROAD ROUNDABOUT) (TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Darlington, to enable replacement safety barrier, vegetation clearance and sign erection works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start on Monday 8 January 2018 for 3 weeks or until completed. The effect of the Order will be, for 24 hours a day, for the duration of the works, to:
(i) impose a temporary 40mph speed restriction and close the laybys adjacent to the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways between Blands Corner Roundabout and Neasham Road Roundabout, a distance of 2500 metres; and

(ii) close the layby adjacent to the A66 westbound carriageway approximately 250 metres west of Morton Palms Roundabout, which will be used as an abnormal load holding area.

Traffic management will be in force 24 hours a day and traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles, vehicles being used in connection with the said works or winter maintenance purposes). The Order comes into force on 7 January 2018 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
