Notice is hereby given that Highways England Company Limited intends to make an Order on the A282 Trunk Road in the County of Kent and the Unitary Authority of Thurrock, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 because works are proposed to be executed on the road. The effect of the Order would be to authorise the overnight closure of:-
(i) the clockwise carriageway (Dartford Bridge and approaches) of the A282 between the crossover points south of M25 Junction 31 (A1306)and north of M25 Junction 1a (A206/B2228);
(ii) the road leading to the clockwise carriageway of the A282 at (M25 Junction 31)(A1306); and
(iii) the roads leading to the anti-clockwise carriageway of the A282 (including the slip road and the dedicated filter lane) from the west roundabout at Littlebrook Interchange (M25 Junction 1a) (A206/B2228).
During the closure in i) above, a contraflow would operate to divert clockwise traffic into the eastern bore of the Dartford Tunnel, re-joining the clockwise carriageway of the A282 prior to Littlebrook Interchange (M25 Junction 1A) (A206/A228). These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake structural works including bearing works, deck bolt replacement, resurfacing of bridge deck and associated works, inspection, maintenance and monitoring of structural and carriageway assets. It is expected that the work would last for approximately 18 months starting on or after Tuesday 2nd January 2018. The overnight closures would take place between 2000 and 0600 hours (maximum periods subject to agreed working hours depending on the day of the week and the time of year). The Order would come into force on 31 December 2017 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months. Traffic affected by the closure in ii) above would be diverted anti-clockwise on the M25 to Junction 30 (A13) and return. Traffic affected by the closure in iii) above would be diverted clockwise on the M25 to Junction 1b (A225/ A296) and return. Over-height vehicles travelling anti-clockwise and unable to use the western bore of Dartford Tunnel would be diverted clockwise on the M25. The temporary closures, contra-flow and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
